About GDPR

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) will apply on May 25th 2018. The main objectives of this new European law are:
  • to give citizens back control over their personal data

  • to harmonise the law across the European Union

The GDPR defines that:
  • citizens have well described rights

  • both the controller and the processor of personal data are accountable

  • you must take organisational and technical measures to safely process personal data

  • you must appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO) if you regularly and systematically monitor data subjects or process sensitive personal data on a large scale

The maximum fine for a single breach is set to 20 million euros or 4% of annual worldwide turnover
